Fall Creek School Age Program

Description, Philosophy, Objectives and Developmental Activities

Hello parents and caregivers of incoming Fall Creek Kindergarteners!

Allow me to introduce to you the Fall Creek School Age Program, otherwise known as FCSAP. We provide quality childcare for 70 children per day who are enrolled in Kindergarten through 5th grade at Fall Creek Elementary School. Our after school program is offered Monday – Friday from 2:00pm – 5:30pm. We also offer programming on most days when students have vacations and holidays (known as ‘full days’) from 8:00am – 5:30pm. A healthy snack is provided daily, and morning and afternoon snacks are available on full days. Our ratios are usually 1:8, never over 1:10, and sometimes as low as 1:6.

We are particularly aware of the needs of kindergartners as they adjust to their new environment and schedules. With this in mind, we escort our kindergarten students to the after school program until they feel comfortable making the trip on their own.

We create a warm, relaxed, semi-structured environment with consideration for each child’s well-being. We have an experienced, dedicated, diverse and caring staff with whom your child(ren) will enjoy spending time. We provide children with a variety of structured and unstructured activities which allow them opportunities to choose how they would like to spend their leisure time after school.

Our program has daily access to the school library, gymnasium, kitchen, cafeteria and playgrounds. We offer arts-and-crafts projects daily and specialty interest clubs such as gardening, yoga, archery, theatre, baking, and community service. We have a variety of board games, books, manipulatives and other quiet activities available throughout the day. There are organized gym activities for each age group and time designated for daily use of each of our outdoor playgrounds. Our homework club takes place Monday – Thursday to support children in completing their school assignments. We have work-study students from Cornell University and Ithaca College who provide tutoring during homework club.

We take advantage of our location and easy access to local sites such as Ithaca Falls, Cascadilla Gorge, The Sciencenter, the Downtown Ithaca Commons and Cornell University. On most full days we plan a field trip or invite special visitors to provide entertainment for the children.

We look forward to connecting in the near future!
